Mandatory COVID-19 Insurance:

  • What it covers:
    • Health Coverage: Covers hospitalization and rehabilitation expenses associated with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, within the policy period and according to the insured's Social Security Institution.
    • A. For workers affiliated with FONASA, belonging to groups B, C and D, the insurance will indemnify an amount equivalent to 100% of the co-payment for hospitalization and rehabilitation expenses incurred in the Assistance Network in accordance with the Institutional Care Modality.
    • B. For workers affiliated with ISAPRE, the insurance will indemnify the deductible of their charge, which corresponds to the application of the Additional Coverage for Catastrophic Illnesses (CAEC) with respect to hospital care and rehabilitation carried out in the network of health providers that each ISAPRE makes available to its affiliates, with the purpose of granting said additional coverage or in a different provider in those cases in which the referral was made through the corresponding unit of the Ministry of Health.
    • Death: If the basic cause of death of the insured is COVID-19, an amount of UF 180 will be compensated. The coverage will not be conditioned to the age of the insured.
  • What is NOT covered:
    • Hospitalization, rehabilitation or death expenses associated with diseases other than COVID-19.
    • Hospitalization, rehabilitation or death expenses associated with or derived from injuries sustained in an accident, of any nature or type, even if the victim has COVID-19.
    • In the case of insured persons affiliated with the National Health Fund, hospitalization and rehabilitation expenses incurred in providers that do not belong to the Assistance Network or outside the Institutional Care Modality.
    • In the case of insured persons affiliated with a Social Security Institution, hospitalization and rehabilitation expenses incurred in providers that do not belong to the network of individual and institutional health providers that each Institution makes available to its affiliates, with the purpose of granting them the CAEC.
  • Benefits

In the event that the employment relationship is terminated within the term of the insurance, the coverage will be maintained until the end of the policy term (1 year). Therefore, employers will not be required to purchase new insurance for new workers who still have insurance coverage from their previous job.
