NOW Foods Solutions Shea Butter — 16 oz: $11.49

ConditionDry rough skin in need of moisture, especially on tougher areas such as the elbows, knees and feet.

Solution: Natural shea butter has a rich, luxurious texture that is well absorbed by the skin to condition and moisturize every type of skin. Shea butter is derived from the tree nuts of the karite trees that grow in Western and Central Africa. It is a wonderful emollient that's perfect for daily use. Can also be used as a scalp moisturizer.

This product is naturally solid and color/texture will vary depending on temperature. This product will melt when warmed above body temperature and become solid again when cool. This is natural and may affect the appearance, but will not harm the quality of the product. This warming and cooling may produce fat crystals that affect the color/texture, making it appear grainy or uneven. If solid, shea butter can be softened by placing in a pan of hot water (e.g. 100° or warmer) for 30 minutes or by microwaving until soft.

Gently apply as desired, paying close attention to dry or rough areas; reapply as needed.

Caution for Microwaving: This jar contains a foil seal. Do not place this jar directly in microwave. Before microwaving, scoop out desired amount and place in a microwave-safe container. Allow time to cool before applying.

Having a baby is a new and exciting experience that’s full of twists, turns and learning curves. Breastfeeding is often one of those learning curves. While the choice to breastfeed is a personal one, the many known benefits of breastfeeding have led many new moms to choose breastmilk over formula.

Unfortunately, some difficulties can occur—one of which is pain and discomfort. Depending on the child, there can be varying degrees of pain associated with breastfeeding. Some children are more aggressive (hello, biters!) than others, but there are ways to help prevent and reduce the uncomfortable soreness and dryness that sometimes happens.

While nursing balm products are available for purchase, they can be pricey or, worse, full of additives you don’t want your baby to ingest. Luckily, the ingredients to make your own nursing balm are easy to find and can be quickly prepared for a solution that’s 100 percent natural, safe and usable anytime.
